Awakened

Our eyes awakened behind this blinding reality or a fantasy that may never be.

Captured beyond the horizon of dreaming, feeling those pains inflicted upon mothers, daughters, our sons who have absent dads, wondering why they're so sad.

Were we raised that day to be such a way as the yesterday ahead?

Is there not one willing to see infinitely possibilities of who, what, when, where and why we should not die in such a state of disrepair or forgotten perplexities oppressed human beings have as we dared to dream from the confines we find too many of us in?

Behind steel doors...

Banging,

Ankle chains clanging...

Against smooth concrete floors, jagged with decades of shattered hopes as emotions toil regretfully from a history filled with that same essence of degradation, separation on this modern day plantation called rehabilitation.

"I'm sorry" never reaches the ear of those refusing to hear,

Deafened and defeated by their own inner turmoil...

Still, beyond this horizon awaits Peace made before time became codetermined by actions taken a lifetime or so ago as we show unrecognized changes and maturity of who we have become.

The minutes of time reminding of the physical prison in which we remain reflecting on what is gained in keeping the same frame of mind designed by time through an emptiness inside.

We raise each other to rise above what others may say, have said, even a time told to ourselves in this time received from a yesterday carried away by the hope of today.

Do not give up...

Our eyes awakened inside this blinding Glory that as we all change, His hope remains...

As the air flows through the trees...

We as decreed...

Are free indeed...

Who believe...

Amen.
